LIFE DRAWING WORKSHOP – with nude model

with JOHN WELLS

21st August 2022 – 9.30am to 4.30pm

Eramboo 304 McCarrs Creek Road Terrey Hills

“To draw, paint and sculpt the nude is the noblest art of all,” a belief held by every artist since Leonardo and Michaelangelo to Picasso, Lucian Frued and beyond. The empathy between the model and the artist is quite unique, unfathomable and entirely spiritual.

This Life Drawing Workshop is offered by Eramboo as part of this year’s Northern Beaches Council Creative Open – a new annual event in Sydney’s arts calendar which is a celebration of all things creative on the Northern Beaches.

Over an extended day of study, enjoy a golden opportunity to draw or paint the male form in all its nuances, using your own choice of media; pencils, pastels, charcoal, oils, acrylic or watercolour. The morning will commence with a little theory, based on the proportion of the figure, and it’s place in drawing from life. Then several short poses as a limbering exercise for the hand and eye. Next, further protracted poses, before a break for lunch.
Once rejuvenated, the afternoon will present an opportunity to explore again, this time with one extended pose.

John Wells initially studied art for two years at Rochester College in the late sixties. Then at Brighton College of Art, for three years, achieving a First Class Honours. Finally, after a further two years, he obtained a Master of Fine Art Degree from Reading University. John has now retired as a professional artist,  producing murals and works for clients as diverse as Meriton Apartments and Fox Studios. He enjoys teaching and has extensive experience in the adult education sector throughout Sydney and the State of New South Wales.
