Led by 2025 artist in residence, Susie Dureau
EXHIBITION
Twenty-Six Seconds explores the Earth’s rhythms through sound, light, and pigment. Unfolding within the expanded field of Painting, this cross-disciplinary project bridges painting, sound, and sonography, capturing fleeting moments of the landscape in and around Eramboo, adjacent to Ku-ring-gai National Park. Collaborating with an emerging artist, a musician, a sonographer and a scientist, Dureau translates scientific data into immersive, sensory artworks. By merging these disciplines, Twenty-Six Seconds seeks to reveal something previously unknown, offering fresh perspectives on the subtle, unseen forces shaping our natural world.
Events include: an Artist Talk & Panel Discussion on art, sound, and science;
a Sound Mapping Workshop using spectrograms to visualise the landscape’s rhythms; and
an Experimental Pigment & Painting Workshop exploring natural materials.
A Night-Time Activation on the opening night of the exhibition – timed at dusk (Sunset is 5:12pm on 26/07/25) will feature shifting light installations and ambient sound.
PUBLIC PROGRAM
The public program invites audiences to engage with Susie’s practice and the exhibition, Twenty-Six Second’s themes through talks, workshops, and interactive experiences at Eramboo Artist Environment.
A mentorship component will share insights into integrating sound, painting, and environmental themes. These programs foster new ways of seeing, listening, and engaging with nature.
