2026 artist in residence ~ Remi Siciliano

Erosion Studies presents a series of photographic and photo-sculptural experiments informed by the movement and liveliness of the local area’s coastal geology. Darkroom hand prints, at times unfixed and unstable, visualise these shifting places. Several photographs have been processed using a developer made from lantana weeds gathered along coastal walking paths and around the residency site, replacing traditional darkroom chemistry with materials sourced from the landscapes photographed. Geological flux and erosion have guided the printing process, with some variables uncontrolled and left up to chance in the darkroom. Alongside the photographs, small sculptural experiments explore other forms of material transformation and co-creation with matter from site.
