Introducing SUSIE DUREAU

Susie Dureau’s artistic practice explores the intricate relationships between humankind and the more-than-human world, emphasising sensory engagement as a form of understanding. Working across oil painting, spectrogram collages, and light installations, she investigates the unseen forces and entangled connections that shape human existence. Recently, Susie has re-introduced the use of earth pigments and traditional Western painting techniques into her contemporary practice, combining tactile materiality with technological innovation to examine the intersections of human-made and natural processes.
During her residency at Eramboo, Susie plans to foster mentorship collaborations, exchanging knowledge and skills with fellow artists to enrich her practice and contribute to a broader dialogue about art and ecology. She is also planning to explore new possibilities with paint, sound, light, and the natural environment. Her residency will conclude with an exhibition in our gallery space at Eramboo later this year. Stay tuned for more information about the exhibition, events, and mentorship opportunities in 2025.
Living and working within the rich coastal environment of Garigal Country on the Northern Beaches, Susie holds a Master of Fine Arts from the National Art School, Sydney and a Bachelor of Design from the University of Technology, Sydney.

The six-month artist residency at Eramboo is a joint initiative of Eramboo and Northern Beaches Council. It provides an inspirational bushland environment for an artist to develop a new body of work or a site responsive creative project.
The Eramboo Artist in Residence program offers free non-residential studio space at Eramboo Artist Environment in Terrey Hills, a $3000 allowance for materials and mentoring and support towards an exhibition or public outcome.
Eramboo’s unique location adjacent to the Ku-ring-gai National Park, gives artists an opportunity to disconnect from fast-paced urban environments, experiment creatively and develop their professional practice in a collaborative studio environment.
