Come experience a full day of paper and pigment!
Spend a day immersed in Eramboo’s beautiful bushland making an artist book and filling it with bushscape paintings, drawings, writing and ephemera!
This workshop is jointly facilitated by Samantha Mackie and Ingrid Bowen. Using beautiful, high quality papers, ink and watercolour, be guided in folding and binding an accordian style artist book, then after lunch, fill it with inspiration from the Eramboo bush surroundings.Traditional bookmaking techniques and contemporary ink and watercolour applications will be shared. No experience necessary, this is a relaxed and friendly format, allowing you to enjoy learning about handling paper and watercolour.
Samantha will share many essential binding skills and tips that will allow you confidently embark on your own book projects. Ingrid will share her intuitive artmaking process and demonstrate various contemporary watercolour and ink treatments to help you continue your own watercolour journey.
You do not need to be an artist to enjoy this workshop, just bring a love of nature or at least a desire escape to the bush for a day! And if you wish, you are very welcome to bring some personal recollections of nature to incorporate into your book in whatever form eg a memory, photographs, poems or ephemera you may have collected. The surrounding bush land will provide plenty inspiration if not. The day will be interesting for anyone wanting to combine media – painting, writing, photography, foraging natural elements, or containing mementos.
If you have your own preferred colours or materials & tools, please bring them along – no problem if you don’t, we will provide colours for you to work with in a restrained Australian landscape inspired palette.
