Nettie Lodge presents a hands on 8 week course in Basic Mediums and Techniques for Drawing and Painting 

It is aimed at participants who are interested in developing the necessary tools to create their own personal visual imagery. This may include a visual travel diary, nature drawing, an exhibition, personal expression, skills development. The course will be tailored to the specific style and needs of each participant.

The course explores…

Perceptual, imaginative, experimental and technical skills in drawing, painting and visual exploration.

Ways to dissect and observe objects and images for drawing.

General technical and creative drawing skills for the purpose of illustration, including watercolour, acrylic, collage, photomontage, pen and ink, mono printing and pencils/crayon/charcoal.

All classes will involve exercises in general drawing, both technical and creative, and a class critique of the homework. Each class will provide demonstrations of various techniques. Each class will allow participants to experiment with all demonstrated mediums and techniques.

Course Outcomes: The participants will have gain experience in techniques and descriptive drawing. They will experiment with various mediums. They will gain experience and knowledge in ideas generation, to pursue their individual creative projects.

About: Annette Lodge is an artist, Illustrator and writer. She has worked as a freelance illustrator and lectured at the Billy Blue College of Visual Communication for 15 years. Her most recent project is illustrating The Rime of the Ancient Mariner culminating in an extensive solo exhibition at Manly Art Gallery and accompanying picture book.
