Opening hours: Saturday 25th May from 10-5pm and Sunday, 26th May from 10-6pm.
Closing reception will be held 3-6pm on Sunday. Enjoy a weekend of beautiful art and live music from experimental sounds by Hirofumi Uchino, from Defekto the Noise Army.
‘Second Life’ took its first breath when Coster Mkoki, Eramboo’s international artist-in-residence, asked a room full of artists he’d just met to contribute to his exhibition. “Pressure creates diamonds,” he encouraged as he asked the room for new and already completed artworks. Ten artists said “Yes!“ and within two weeks have created for and contributed to a ‘Second Life’.
Each work is a grafting into Mkoki’s vision of a world filled with possibility and big enough for second chances. Often life pulls us backward, a force that seems impossible to overcome. That tension and pull focuses energy and -as artists- that energy brings New Life.
‘Second Life’ represents what can be done when one is allowed the freedom to live beyond the mundane and create from what is left behind in this struggle for life.
